28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So, Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” Matthew 14:28-31
What was he thinking? Walk? …ON WATER?! Nobody does that.
This was a test. Peter’s-not Jesus. Was Jesus really God?
No one WALKS on the surface of water. Peter did.
“Let me walk water with you Jesus”… “Come Peter,” He said.
Peter was only the second human to walk on water.
No surprise, the ONE who made all water- the first.
Is walking on water the important thing? No. It’s trust.
Trusting self, Peter sank. Who do we trust first? Self.
Sinking Peter cried, “Save me!” Jesus reached out, grabbed him.
