Every Green Plant

Some plants are more spectacular than others.

But every plant is on earth for a purpose.

Every green plant is food.

Even the beautiful spring Pasque flower feeds its animal neighbors.

This flower has a dual purpose: food for animals and food for the human soul.

You and I would not eat it…Pasque flowers are too exquisite to eat.

There is a third purpose for the Pasque flower.

Questions may help us see it:

Why is it so beautiful?

How does it bloom when there is still snow on the ground?

What makes this first flower of spring so enchanting?

“And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis 1:30

Many of the flowers were cropped off. Only a short stem remained. At first guess it seemed deer were eating them. My second guess is the 13-Lined Ground Squirrel.

The Pasque flower, so much intense, delicate beauty, gone in a few days; it returns each spring as the sun rises every morning.
