Feathered Migratory Superstar

Brilliant.

Agile acrobat, long distance flier…

over 3,000 miles…one way.

Deciduous tree top nester…

in a suspended sock shaped nest of woven fibers.

Construction lasts up to 15 days.

Try weaving a nest with no hands…Oh, & make it pouch shaped.

Gloriously musical, males sing to defend nests.

Insects, fruit and nectar compose the Baltimore Oriole diet.

But grape jelly is the oriole’s favorite go-to-day-long snack.

Males stunning, black and orange…

females, subtle orange-brown sort of camouflage.

Think…this bird is a feathered miracle.

Migrating over 3,000 miles, weaving nests with a bird bill…

thriving on a diet of grape jelly.

Consider the Baltimore Oriole and…

“Remember the wondrous works that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered…”

Psalm 105:5

Not only do Baltimore Orioles enjoy grape jelly…the Orchard Orioles come regularly to a jelly feeder. This one is a male. Sharing grape jelly with these marvelous creatures is a pleasure!
