Peace...
…with yourself, your neighbor and God; all are possible.
How does a person obtain peace? We are referring to the peace which puts the human heart to rest. This is the peace that brings a stillness into life. It is the peace by which every girl, boy, woman and man will find rest and delight. This is the peace which provides strength to face the trials of life.
Do not be deceived, this kind of peace cannot be made by any human. We can have it-but we cannot generate it. This peace is beyond the power and ability of any person. This peace comes from God.
Yes, God promises us peace. Not world peace…but peace of the heart and soul. Isaiah, directed by God, wrote about this peace from God. Speaking of God, Isaiah said, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)
What is the source of perfect peace? It is only God. Those who trust in Him, who keep their mind steadfast on God will have peace. But not ordinary peace…perfect peace, everything just right peace because God gives it.
In the New Testament, Paul provides us with the focus on which we are to keep our minds steadfast: Jesus. Paul wrote, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,” (Romans 5:1)
This peace we need.
The world around us is in turmoil, there is strife, anger, hatred, bitterness, guilt, even murder. How we need peace. Searching for peace in the things of this world will always bring us to disappointment, and sorrow. Earthly things do not provide peace. God does. He offers it to us. Perfect peace.
Peace.
Does it sound good? Think of it…perfect peace. Believe what God has said. Believe in what Jesus did for the world on the cross. He died for you…and me. “God’s peace” is not an empty two word phrase. It is a powerful soul refreshment available to all who seek it. It lasts-forever.
