Best of the Week-Two Photos...One Truth
Taking photos of the beauty and wonder in nature is something very satisfying to me. Most of the photos are deleted at the end of the month. A few are saved. The two photos for this week will not be discarded at the end of the month. It’s my sort of experienced opinion that both are great photos.
The Back story will make both photos more interesting to you. What was the setting of these two photos? How did they become the photos of this week?
Photo of the Week One: The Male Crossbill Finch
Here is the truth: the moon was my objective on the morning of this photo. I had been admiring the beauty of the waning crescent moon since getting out of bed. While going through my morning routine of Bible reading, the urge to photograph the moon finally won out. Finished with taking photos of the moon, I stood on our deck and admired the moon just a while longer. That’s when I heard the flutter of wings. I looked at our bird water bowl. The male Crossbill was there enjoying a morning drink. I raised the camera and snapped three quick photos. Then it flew away. This photo pleases me. It is very easy to see the unique crossed bill of this beautiful bird. I wanted to share it with you.
Photo of the Week Two: A Waning Crescent Moon 15% illuminated
Now, the photos of the waning crescent moon taken yesterday did not turn out as expected. The moon was washed out, and there was little detail-the craters of the moon were not visible. Plus the moon is more creamy yellow in color when it first rises. This morning I was out of bed early (for me) The second photo of the week is of the Crescent Moon at 15% illumination. Photo time was approximately 6:10 AM. This photo pleases me because there are visible? Remember? The moon is God’s “faithful witness.” (Read Psalm 89:37)
Truth of the Week: God Made Everything We See and All We Cannot See.
This morning’s Bible reading was in the book of Jeremiah. The photos support this week’s truth. While neither you nor I can fully comprehend the power of God, we can understand that God created everything. Knowing this truth changes how we humans look at life and the origins of earth. Knowing this truth brings us face to face with God. As you think about the vast power and infinite wisdom of God you may feel overwhelmed and insignificant. If you do think about Easter. Easter is when all powerful, all knowing God gave His life for you and me. Why? The foremost component of God’s power is His love. He loves us above all. This is the greatest truth.
