A Christmas Message

Wisdom and Folly Are Meaningless

12 Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly.
What more can the king’s successor do than what has already been done?
13 I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.
14 The wise have eyes in their heads, while the fool walks in the darkness;
but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both.

15 Then I said to myself, “The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being wise?”
 I said to myself, “This too is meaningless.” 16 For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered;
    the days have already come when both have been forgotten. Like the fool, the wise too must die!

Ecclesiastes 2:12-16

Read these Ecclesiastes words. Read twice-aloud.

Feel the weight they carry.

Do the mental math. Wisdom + folly+ striving for stuff = death.

Plug in any other earthly thing-the answer? The same end-Death.

Meaningless.

There’s another message. The Eternal. Meaning filled:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

” This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Thank you, Jesus.

You ask, “How can this be a Christmas message? It’s about the meaninglessness of life? Meaning is found in this message:

10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10-111

The words of the angel bring meaning, hope and peace to every person who believes.

Jesus gives life and meaning at Christmas and all year round!

THIS is the message which makes Christmas MERRY. Merry Christmas!
