The Burden Lifter

28Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

It’s a permanent invitation. It calls all who are oppressed, anxious, desperate: “come.”

The invitation is: pick up a yoke.

“Yoke…”

…as in wooden bar that binds two animals to work together.”

It’s a beautiful image.

Just think. Two together. Burdens cut by half.

This yoke harnesses us to God’s power and love.

Jesus gives it freely to us.

He invites us to face the burdens and trials of life “yoked” with Him.

The image becomes infinitely glorious.

Face life “yoked” to Jesus. The One who made the universe at your side.

We were made to be “bound” to Him.
