Guaranteed Forever

Yes or no.

These days...When someone guarantees something do we believe it?

A guarantee is assurance usually in writing that something will be delivered, fulfilled, repaired or replaced. A human guarantee is only as good as the honest integrity of the one who gives it. The sad truth: honesty and integrity have always been weak or absent in humanity.

Honesty comes from God.

What happens when God gives a guarantee?

God's guarantee is explained by the example of a King who lived millennia ago. God’s guarantee stands-into forever. But the guarantee was given long before either of us were born.  And this presents the first problem...this king Melchizedek, lived so long ago it may make us skeptical. Could the guarantee still be in effect? Second, it doesn't help that the king's name is hard to pronounce-Melchizedek. And we haven't read of parents naming their son Melchizedek. Not that it matters. But there aren’t any new Mechizedeks…are there?

Hold up a moment, this kind of thinking completely misses the exceeding grandness of the guarantee. This guarantee comes from God. God always keeps His promises. In the days after Melchizedek, priests were the ones who represented the people to God. The regulations they followed-they could not meet -"the Law made nothing perfect." The law revealed(/reveals)how far we've fallen from God. We could not meet them either.

The priesthood of Aaron was imperfect.

However, Melchizedek was perfect. "Not in the order of Aaron."

Therefore, Melchizedek IS important...

He is the example the writer to the Hebrews uses to demonstrate God's forever guarantee...God's "better hope."

This is the hope "by which we to draw near to God."

AND-The example of Melchizedek was given in the very beginning of the Bible! God promised, long before you and I needed it.

God's guarantee to humanity has always existed.

One more. There are human guarantees made which are given by a human oath. No human oaths come with a forever guarantee. God has given His oath. God has promised…given His WORD.

God never "changes His mind."

The new priest, the better priest...better than even Melchizedek is God's forever guarantee. God's Perfect Priest is how we humans can draw near to God. Do not let your mind wander on this. Think of it! An eternal promise allowing humans to come into the presence of God! Guaranteed forever!

His name is Jesus.
