The Oath

The words in quotation marks below have their origin in heaven. They are eternal. They are true. They have infinite power. These are God's words. The speak of His unchanging promise to you-to me.

God always keeps His promises...

Read Hebrews 7:22-28

"[22] This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

[23] The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, [24] but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. [25] Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

[26] For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. [27] He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. [28] For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever."

OK-you've just read God's Word.

Now...Grab your wandering thoughts.

Concentrate.

Keep focus on these words: Oath & Covenant

First a refresh.

An OATH is a solemn promise calling upon God to witness the truth of one's promise.

A COVENANT a solemn binding agreement.

Humans take oaths. Humans make covenants. Humans break both. History is littered with broken oaths and shattered covenants.

With God an oath is infinitely different. When God makes an oath it is permanent. When God makes a covenant it stands eternal. God keeps His word. Always-Forever.

God made an oath. You and I can be forgiven of our sins...you know-the things we say and do that destroy our chance at a relationship with God. We are oath breakers.

God is the OATH KEEPER.

The oath of God is unlike any other.

God's oath is given in a person.

Jesus is God's oath with skin on.

He is God's solemn perfect forever unchanging promise.

Jesus is what we need..."Holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted ABOVE the heavens."

Why do humans like perfection?

Why do we seek perfection?

Where do we find perfection?

There is no other place...
