The Plan...Completed
There is a plan…none of it from the mind and design of man. The plan has no earthly source. No human mind could conceive such generosity…or love. No human mind could foresee the plan completed 600 or so years after its announcement. But the plan had been in the mind of God since BEFORE the beginning when God spoke the words, “let there be light.” Without the plan all humanity was doomed to everlasting destruction. Think of it destroyed forever. Without hope.
There is a plan.
God in love, provided a way. A child was the key to the plan. No ordinary human child…but fully human and fully God. Immanuel…God with us! One more thing: God’s plan was perfect, is perfect and forever will be perfect. His plan has a name: Jesus.
The Plan:
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.” Isaiah 9:6-7
Something like 600 years passed after the plan was announced. God never forgets. Put this time in perspective. Since 1776 (American Declaration of Independence) to 2023 is 247 years. God’s plan is perfect and eternal. You and I are the reason for God’s perfect plan. The sin in our lives is a death sentence. Nothing in humanity could break this curse…the human mind fails. There is no salvation found from any human source.
The Plan Completed:
“12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger."
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"
15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." Luke2.12-15
Awesome can only be found in God. God brought His plan to earth with an awesome display of His power: “a great company of the heavenly host.” God made it clear that His plan of saving humans from their sins excluded no one. Though He could have, it wasn’t proclaimed to the whole earth at once. He announced the birth of Jesus in a field- a sheep pasture, in Israel. Why? It doesn’t matter, neither of us have the mind of God.
To whom did the angels announce the birth of Jesus? Lowly, despicable shepherds! Their station in the nation of Israel was about a low on the social scale as you could go.
God announced the birth of Jesus to the lowest…His plan to save the world through Jesus was given first to those no one wanted to associate with. See yourself as lowlife as a shepherd. Our sins make us unable to associate with God.
His plan: Jesus enables us to be forgiven of our sins and able to be in fellowship with Him forever. Over 2000 years have passed since the completion of the plan. We celebrate the announcement and completion of the plan every Christmas…
Remember? God does not forget.
