Keep Watching

You’ve heard these words before.

Just different arrangements-today its: keep watching.

You may see a Squash Vine Borer Moth.

Look in most Midwestern states…they’re everywhere.

Squash vine borers (SVB) are common… considered pests.

They damage garden crops, no surprise- squash.

SVB are not particular, they oviposite their eggs…

…in (our) cucumbers, watermelon, pumpkins, and muskmelons.

Pests can be beautiful.

Mimicry is part of God’s omniscient blueprint…

SVB looks like a wicked wasp.

No even predators enjoy a wasp bite.

My honest contention?

Never seen one of these before.

Make watching nature your mantra when you go outside.

Don’t kill-keep watching.

“How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 2 Samuel 7:22

The Squash Borer Moth is just one of God’s completely awesome creation. If we look closely and think reflectively we can see the power and love of God in this little half inch moth.

Thank God our cucumber crop is complete for the season. The SVB can eat all it wants. We’ll have them next year. They overwinter (YES IN MINNESOTA) in the soil as pupae.

My friend keep watching. Remember this is a moth!! There are so many things in creation to surprise and delight us….why is that?

God loves you and me.
