The Source of Power and Control

Have you thought about who is in charge? Did you assume you are? I do.

Are we? It matters that we know who is in control. Even though we get to choose the foods we eat. Even though we choose what to do with our time. Even though we decide how to spend our money. We are not in control. We are not.

We make mistakes. With the things we control we mess up. Little things, big things, in our control we blunder things, we slip up on responsibilities, we make bloopers, gaffes and errors. We fail to apologize.

Ever become frustrated with the human inability to keep from mistakes? What if you could give control to One who never “slips-up,” never makes a single error-ever?  “Impossible,” you say? There is no one perfect. No one has the power to control all things perfectly.

But…there IS.

We need proof. Proof is all around us. Birds, animals, the earth and sea…all provide clear evidence of the existence of One Power, One control over all. Consider this list:

Mallard Duck

Winter Mallards

Mallard Duck:

Waterproof, iridescent, built in navigation system, feathers, overcomes gravity whenever it chooses, no teeth-gravel grinds its food.

Canada Goose

The “eye” of Canada

Canada Goose:

Waterproof, built in navigation system, feathers, overcomes gravity whenever it chooses, mated for life…a completely different bird from the mallard.

Cottotail Rabbit

Cottontail eating Raspberry canes

Cottontail Rabbit:

Winter proof, digestive system adaptable to changing climate (summer-grass; winter bark, twigs), diurnal (eats at dawn and dusk for safety)

Magnificent Sunrise

Sunrise/sunset:

Occurs every day of our lives, predictable to the second, systematic, part of each season, splendor beyond description, the solar engine powers life on earth

The Moon

Earth’s Moon

The moon:

Earth’s silent partner in the solar system, illuminated by the sun, distinct, predictable phases repeated on a monthly cycle, never changes, magnificent grandeur in each glimpse

Surf

Gulf of Mexico

The sea:

97% if earth’s water, 5% of ocean floors explored, (what about the rest?), 50-80% of all life on earth found in oceans, 91% of ocean species have NOT been classified. Why is the sea magnificent?

You and I are not in control. You and I do not have all the power. We are not in charge…God is.

Job knew. These are his words:

“Even birds and animals have much they could teach you; ask the creatures of earth and sea for their wisdom. All of them know that the Lord's hand made them. It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone's life is in his power.” Job 12:7-10

Go outside, do a power check…look around. Could all that you see really organize itself?
