The Abundance Resolution

Recently, we received an abundance. To be specific-an abundance of snow. While snow is beautiful, another way to express the amount is plenty. To be even more detailed, a great quantity of snow fell in our neighborhood. Actually, something like a foot. That’s loads of snow. For now, we are experiencing a fullness. Our roof is full, so is every other house in the neighborhood, and if we had not used a snowblower, even our driveway would be full, entirely full. We know about abundance and fullness from the recent snow. In my opinion, we are filled with snow…there is no room for more.

This full abundance of snow provides us with an illustration of a verse in the Bible. Here it is:

“From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.” John 1:16

Our comparison fails here. While there is room for more snow, the abundant blessings of God never stop. The verse reminds us the favor of God comes at us in waves of blessing-one blessing after another. Yes, there was a lot of snow, but it was limited to about a foot in depth. No limits with God, there is unlimited abundance in His grace to us.

What is grace? Answer: Grace is undeserved favor...from God to us. Think of it...favor, unlimited and abundant —from the one who rules all. No... neither of us deserves it. Not one thing.

Still, God gives us His unlimited grace through Jesus. “One blessing after another” is showered upon us. Look for the blessings today. As this year ends, think back on the previous months. Search for blessings. You will find them. As the New Year begins, this is a truth to hold fast to. “From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.” God constantly provides His blessing to both of us. He never runs out. They come one after another. They are given to us in abundance. I have a resolution for you…make it your goal to look for His blessings in the coming year. Your search will not be difficult. Blessings from God are all around us...and searching will bring joy to your heart.
