Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

Perhaps you know who spoke the words from Matthew 6:26. Jesus, universal bird Creator, spoke them. Here’s what comes to my mind as the words of Jesus tumble in my thoughts. No bird has ever planted seed for a food supply later on. Yes, the chickadee like the one in the photo above does store food…but not in a barn or any type of storage container. Chickadees “cache” seeds in many places within their territories. And in winter, the chickadee adds brain cells within its hippocampus in order that they remember where those cached seeds are! Biologists estimate a chickadee can remember nearly a thousand places where they’ve stuck a seed for emergency winter feed. Now consider the words of Jesus: “Your heavenly Father feeds them.” Part of God’s plan for “feeding” His birds INCLUDES adding brain cells to the little bird brain of the chickadee. How might we describe this?

AWESOME.

God loves the birds He has made. He feeds them. But He loves you…God loves you…far more!

Coming next…consider peace. Not human peace-God’s.
