"Seven Ways Superior"

I'm reminded today that I am not a theologian. But it is a wonderful blessing that there are many experts in God's word. The first thing to prepare for today's text was open my study Bible. My eyes went to the commentary below the scripture. The first sentence reads:

"The superiority of the Son's revelation is demonstrated by seven great descriptive statements about Him." Not one of these seven ways is possible for any of us.

Just pause a moment. Is it possible for a limited human mind (No insult intended-just the truth.) to understand Triune God? No. But God wants us to know Him. So, try.

Reflect on this truth: Jesus is Superior-above all. Now say these words aloud. Let the power and truth of this fact settle into your heart in the clearest way you can. Know that God’s Holy Spirit will give you understanding.

These are the seven descriptive statements about the superiority of Jesus: (source: Concordia Self-Study Bible)

Jesus…

“1. Is God's appointed Heir of all things.

2. Through Him-God made the universe.

3. …is the radiance of God's glory.

4. … is the exact representation of God's being.

5. … sustains all things.

6. … provides purification for sins.

7. … sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”

Superior is the best word we have to describe Jesus.

But-Superior is an inadequate word. Superior cannot describe infinite…or perfect love.

How can Jesus be explained with a word? Or ten thousand words?

He is King of Kings...Lord of Lords...Immanuel.

Eternal Jesus-Superior to all... died for you and me.

Holy Spirit of God...we pray that you would enable us to love and worship Jesus and understand His superiority. Enable us to honestly say, "I love you Jesus."

“…but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
