There is only one.

Don’t be confused but in the verses for today there are four of them. We’ll call each “only one.” That’s because in all of the world there was/is no other-only one-none before and none since. Here are the verses, can you find 4?

 “This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:18-21

This is the first-there is only one virgin birth.

Never before in history or since has a virgin given birth to a son. There is a clear explanation for those who scoff and say this is impossible. Matthew and Mark express this truth:

 “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Mark 10:27

Mary was a virgin. Yet she gave birth to Jesus. There is only one virgin birth .

Let’s combine the next two. Love makes two one…Joseph and Mary. Matthew writes that the angel counseled Joseph to be unafraid to take Mary as his wife. He obeyed. The Bible is also clear that there was no physical union before Jesus was born.

There is only one Mary.

There is only one Joseph.

They are two and three.

God knew their hearts…He chose Mary. He chose Joseph. These two were used of God. Both were subjected to enormous pressures because of the virgin birth of Jesus. Both trusted and obeyed God…they submitted their wills to God.

Now for the final ONE.

There is only ONE Jesus.

He truly was sent to earth as a baby born of a Jewish virgin. God sent Jesus to save us from our sins. Does sin exist in today’s world? Look around you. Read some headlines…murder, theft, bribery, drugs, mass immorality, hatred, slander, lies…and more flood news reports each day.

It is no exaggeration to state the world is an evil MESS.

Is there any hope? Is there a way out of the mess? Can the sins of the world be reversed, stopped, forgotten? Forgiven?

Yes…Jesus is the answer for the world today.

He is the Only One who can save us. It is why He came.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to us by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:12

There is only one. Only one who created you and me. Only one who knows our fears and thoughts. Only ONE who would die for our sins.

Only 1 who can save this messed up world.

His name is Jesus.
