Perhaps We Never Will

Humans are hardwired for beauty…nature beauty. Mountains, pounding surf, thunderstorm, a butterfly and infinitely more draw our eyes. Beauty activates our minds. Beauty stills our soul, quiets our hearts and brings us joy. Nature beauty byproducts are a sense of accomplishment, and peace. Contentment arrives at some point as our eyes, heart and mind contemplate the beauty of the natural world.

Take away the beauty found outside.

Tension and frustration come more easily. Dissatisfaction is never far behind. A grumbling spirit develops and unhappiness is the outcome. Take away nature’s beauty…peace of mind and contentment flee. Nothing satisfies for long. A feeling of restlessness joins the grumbling spirit. The soul which seeks contentment in brick and steel soon finds them shallow and empty.

Nature’s beauty is easy to take for granted.

The sun always rises…it sets in the evening…we even know the exact times. Spring follows winter and we are glad; but the beauty of spring we can take for granted-and miss it all. The spectacular display of the night sky complete with planets, meteors, and light years old starlight can be seen every night there is a cloudless sky.

There is power and peace even love in the beauty of nature.

It takes time to experience beauty.

Perhaps we never will. This is a depressing thought.

Are we too busy?

Have our priorities crowded beauty out of our lives? Does observing the beauty of nature seem a waste of time? It happens.

But wait…my focus and priorities often exclude the beauty of nature-it’s not only you. When memories of past beauty return… I make time to be outside-where beauty is.

It is never disappointing. Let me share the beauty of the earth with you. The setting moon…and the rising sun of the morning. Both within the past 24 hours. Look at the photos…may they motivate you to go outside. Take your family with you. Go early in the morning and after sunset.

God put beauty in nature. He put His power and great love in the beauty you’ll find every time you go outside. The beauty of creation will speak to your soul…God is always near. Finally, there is a wonderful event which comes when we view nature beauty…God is praised.

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. Psalm 113:3
